Certified soft drinks flavour standard used to train professional soft drink tasters to recognize and scale the intensity of DMS character.

Dimethyl sulphide contaminates soft drinks through use of insufficiently-purified carbon dioxide for carbonation. It can also arise through bacterial spoilage of ingredients. It imparts a sulphury odour, reminscent of sweetcorn or tomato sauce.
