Metallic notes are contributed to soft drinks via contaminated raw materials or process water, or through corrosion of process plant. Metallic odours can also originate from lipid oxidation. Ferrous sulphate primarily affects product mouthfeel, but sometimes odour, clarity and colour can be affected.
